DE Hunter Snyder Makes it Official

East Lake (Tarpon Springs, Fla.) defensive end Hunter Snyder isn’t a name you will find on the major recruiting websites, but don’t tell the FAU coaches that.

Snyder verbally committed to the Owls Sunday night after months of communication with the coaching staff.

The 6-foot-6, 225 pound lineman clocked a 4.6 40-yard dash at one of FAU’s development camps over the summer, which led to an offer from defensive line coach Matt Edwards. Snyder (pictured) unofficially visited for the Middle Tennessee State game earlier this season and eventually decided that he wanted to be an Owl.

“I had been talking to [coach Edwards] this weekend, and I just decided to call him and make it official. I think the coaches are good and they have a good team… I just want to be part of it and make it better.” Snyder said.

Snyder had been hearing from schools such as Iowa State, but FAU was the only program to extend an offer. Edwards and the staff told Snyder that they liked his athletic ability and saw a place for him in the Owl’s defense.

While he has played some tight end in high school, he is being brought in solely as a defensive end.

Snyder has three sacks this season for an East Lake team that is off to a 6-0 start. His highlights can be seen here.
