The Florida Atlantic football team has made another addition via the transfer portal, finding a solid JUCO player in Cameron Goggins from Georgia Military College.
He boosts the Owls' depth on defense when he makes his way to Boca Raton next year.
Declaring his allegiance on Tuesday evening, Goggins leaves the Bulldogs after one season. In 10 games, he made 16 tackles (13 solo), broke up 10 passes, had a pair of interceptions, and got a fumble recovery. He was particularly most involved against Sussex County on October 28th, making eight tackles (six solo), deflecting four passes, and picking off one of the opposing quarterback's throws.
Goggins showcased a versatile skillset coming out of Hampton High School, demonstrating his talent to play on both sides of the ball.
As a wide receiver, he caught 64 passes for 1,124 yards and 10 touchdowns in 29 games. On defense, he played at cornerback, having a total of 60 tackles (31 solo), seven interceptions, and four pass deflections.
He is now the 25th member of FAU's growing 2024 class. He chose the Owls over Middle Tennessee, Southeastern Louisiana, and Eastern Kentucky among others.
Goggins becomes the fourth defensive player to transfer to the Owls for the 2024 season, joining the likes of linebacker Kyler Laing from Buffalo, cornerback Kahzir Brown from Maine, and defensive lineman Chisom Ifeanyi from Shippensburg.
