FAU Baseball Skipper McCormack Receives Extension

As he embarks on his 11th season as head coach and 29th year with the Florida Atlantic University baseball program, John McCormack has inked a five-year contract extension. “Coach McCormack has done an incredible job of making FAU not only one of the top programs in C-USA but also nationally, and we are thrilled our program will be under his leadership for many years to come,” said FAU Vice President and Director of Athletics Brian White.” “John has shown unparalleled commitment to the success of our baseball program by consistently ensuring that the Owls are competitive both on and off the field. His vision, commitment and dedication to our baseball program and student-athletes has created a tradition of excellence and we look forward to continued success under his leadership.” “I would like to thank President Kelly and Brian White for the faith they have shown me with this contract extension,” said McCormack. “I appreciate their confidence in me and in the direction of our program. There are a lot of people who have helped FAU baseball and who will continue to be friends of the program, and for that too, I am grateful. I have been blessed with excellent assistants and fantastic players, all of whom make my job easier.” In 10 years at the helm of the FAU program, McCormack has amassed 360 wins and a .618 winning percentage, leading the Owls to five NCAA regional appearances. His squads have won three conference regular season titles and one postseason league championship. Under McCormack’s tutelage, FAU has had seven players earn All-America status, 14 All-Region selections and 35 All-Conference honorees. A total of 30 Owls have gone on to be Major League baseball draft picks since McCormack took over as head coach in 2009.
