DelGuidice goes 4-for-6 with two HR Florida Atlantic split a doubleheader with Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday afternoon winning game one 8-7 and falling 6-5 in game two. The Owls have now played five straight games that have been decided by one run. Nick DelGuidice gave FAU a 1-0 lead in the second with his sixth home run of the season but it would be short lived as the Warhawks accounted for five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Owls trailed 6-4 in the top of the fifth until DelGuidice delivered his second long ball, a two-run shot, tying the game at 6-6. FAU took the lead briefly in the sixth when Anthony Mesa connected for his fourth home run of the season. After Hugh Adams gave up an unearned run in the seventh, Ryan Bernal (4-0) pitched 1.2 scoreless innings in relief to give FAU a chance at the win. Nathan Pittman singled to lead off the eighth inning for Florida Atlantic (24-15, 13-7). A Raymond Church doubled then allowed the Pittman to score from first and give FAU an 8-7 lead they would not relinquish. Andy Mee came on in relief to earn his ninth save of the season. Mike Gipson (6-1, 2.91) was shaky for the Owls in game two while allowing six hits and five earned runs in a no decision. The right-hander issued four walks and tallied eight strikeouts. Trailing 4-2 in the top half of the seventh inning, the Owls took a 5-4 lead as Andy Mee tallied a two-run double which was followed by a Dan Scheffler sacrifice fly. However, ULM (15-23, 5-12) would pull off a 6-5 victory in the bottom of the ninth with a walk-off single by Judd Edwards Andy Mee, Eddie Cassidy and Nick Delguidice each had two hits. DelGuidice went 4-for-6 on the day while reaching base safely seven times in nine trips to the plate. Game three of the series will start at 11 a.m. eastern on Sunday. R.J.
