Mauricio Hinds OL 6-5, 280 lbs Clearwater, FL Clearwater Academy International High School The Florida Atlantic football team continues to add more size to their trenches, gaining the commitment of Mauricio Hinds to the program. This provides more strength to the offensive line when he makes his way to Boca Raton next year. He originally pledged to Minnesota over the summer before reversing course on December 2nd. Making his announcement on Thursday morning following an official visit to FAU this past weekend, Hinds is coming off a senior campaign in which he took part in all 10 games on a Clearwater team that finished 5-5 on the season, winning five of their last six contests. As a junior, he also started up front as he helped them go 10-1 and win its second-straight Sunshine State Independent Association championship. Rated as a three-star lineman with an 85 score by 247Sports, he is ranked the 127th-best player at his position and 210th in the state of Florida. His composite rating of 0.8558 puts him at 108th among the best offensive tackles, 175th in Florida, and 1291st throughout the country. Hinds is now the 22nd member of FAU’s expanding 2024 class. He chose the Owls over Minnesota, Arizona, UCF, Tulane, Appalachian State, Duke, and Liberty among others. He also becomes the fourth player to be joining the Owls’ offensive line in the 2024 season, joining the likes of Keon Rohe from Germany, Ethan Proffitt from Jacksonville, and Braden Cunningham from Orange Park.
