Late last week Florida Atlantic added a defensive back through the transfer portal. Former Mississippi State and Indiana DB Chris Keys announced he would be spending his senior year of college football at FAU.
The 6 ‘0 190 pound Collins, Mississippi native is a 3 star recruit per ON3 and has spent the past 2 seasons at Mississippi State and the previous 3 at Indiana. During his time in Starkville, Keys played safety in 19 games with one start and recorded 41 tackles, 1 for loss and one pass breakup.
Prior to transferring to MSU before the 2023 season, Keys spent the first 3 seasons of his collegiate career at Indiana, playing in only 2 games his first 2 years due to injury and redshirting before becoming an impact player in 2022. In 2022, Keys played in 7 games, recording 14 tackles and a PBU before entering the transfer portal at the end of the season.

Coming out of Collins High School in Collins, Mississippi, Keys was also a 3 star recruit and had interest from Ole Miss and South Alabama among others, but opted to commit to Indiana on June 22nd 2022.
In the transfer portal Keys had many programs in pursuit of his services, however after a visit to FAU on April 26th he opted to commit to on May 1st.
Keys is a natural safety and joins a Safety room which will have multiple jobs up for grabs during summer and fall camp, following the departures of Jayden Williams, CJ Heard and Phil Dunnam to the Transfer Portal. He becomes the 8th defensive back addition out of the transfer portal, joining Derrick “Dooda” Rogers, Antonio Robinson, LJ Hall, Terez Reid, Dillion Williams, Trey Sweeney and MJ Hinson and 11th overall including freshman Damon Allen, Zion Paret and Josiah Farmer.
