Florida Atlantic football added a home-town talent through the transfer portal on Sunday afternoon. Former Bethune Cookman defensive tackle and 3 star transfer Earl Miller Jr announced he would be spending his 4th season of college eligibility in Boca Raton.
The 6 ‘4 295 pound Riviera Beach, Florida native spent last season at BCU, playing in 4 games, recording 28 tackles, 2.5 for loss and a half of a sack. Prior to spending last season at Bethune Cookman, Miller Jr spent the first 3 seasons of his collegiate career at the University of South Dakota, playing in 12 games across 3 seasons, with 2021 being a red-shirt and recording 12 tackles with 1 being for loss.
Coming out of American Heritage High School Delray Beach, Miller Jr was a 3 star recruit, receiving offers from Boston College, Army, and FAU, among others, also receiving a crystal ball per 247 Sports for Virginia Tech, however he ultimately committed to South Dakota on August 22nd, 2020. This time out of the transfer portal, Miller Jr remained a 3-star and received offers from Georgia Southern and others, but after a visit to FAU he ultimately decided to commit on April 27th.

According to Miller Jr, his return to Palm Beach County had a lot to do with the fact that FAU is his hometown team and the home field advantage that Flagler Credit Union Stadium can provide.
“What led me here is the fact that FAU has home field advantage (I am from palm beach county) and an outstanding coaching staff. I love the city of Boca and the FAU fans and supporters,” Miller Jr said.
Miller Jr brings a veteran presence to the interior of the FAU defensive line, joining earlier portal additions, Enyce Sledge, Naejuan Barber and CJ Doggete as new additions to the room.

With so many new additions in the room there is a chance for Miller Jr to earn a starting role and be a contributor on this FAU squad, however his goals for this season are team centric, rather than personally focused.
“What I’m looking forward to this season is winning, bring back the conference title,” Miller Jr said.
The Spring portal period continues to be a busy one for FAU football and Miller Jr is another addition who has a chance to make an impact this season for the Owls and could be someone to watch during Summer and Fall camp.
