Florida Atlantic Football lands former SELA DB LJ Hall via transfer portal

Florida Atlantic Football added a defensive back through the transfer portal on Monday afternoon. Former SELA and Coffeyville CC DB LJ Hall announced he would be spending his second season of eligibility at FAU.

The 6 ‘0 180 pound DB is a Waycross, Georgia native and following a successful HS career at Ware County HS, he spent his freshman season at Coffeyville Community College, recording 53 tackles, 5.5 for loss, 2 interceptions and a forced fumble. Following an impactful freshman season, Hall earned a spot on the All-KJCCC Honorable Mention Team.

Following a successful season at Coffeyville, Hall opted to transfer to SELA in December of 2024, spending Spring Ball there before opting to enter the transfer portal during the most recent spring period.

Although there were multiple teams in pursuit of his services, Hall says that transferring to FAU was because the staff had a genuine desire to see him succeed.

“What led me to the Owls was the coaching staff, everybody was genuine and really wanted me to succeed on and off the field,” Hall said.

Hall played safety during his freshman year at Coffeyville and he joins an FAU DB room which has seen numerous departures this offseason, including potential starter Jayden Williams. With a solid effort during Spring and Fall Camp, Hall will have a chance to battle for a starting role against Redshirt-Freshmen Kyle Boylston and Mike Wright III.

Although a starting job would be appealing for Hall, his goal for this season is to bring winning back to FAU.

“The thing I’m looking forward to the most is winning the conference and making the playoffs, I’m just ready to win,” Hall said.

Hall becomes the 3rd “DB” to join the Owls through the transfer portal, joining Derrick “Dooda” Rogers, and Antonio Robinson, although Hall becomes the first addition with safety experience at the collegiate level.
