Prince James Boyd Jr. DL 6-1, 290 Transfer Purdue The defensive line continues to beef up for the Florida Atlantic football team, gaining the commitment of Prince James Boyd Jr. The defensive lineman will be joining the Owls’ Class of 2024, ramping up the overall strength in the group when he makes his way to Boca Raton next season. Making his announcement on Sunday morning, Boyd Jr. departs the Boilermakers after three seasons. In 20 games, he made a total of 19 tackles (nine solo) including 2.5 for a loss of yardage and a fumble recovery. The majority of his playing time came in 2022 as he played in 13 games for the team. He was unavailable for this past season due to injury, only participating in one game. Boyd Jr. was originally committed to Texas State before switching his allegiance to Purdue in Summer 2021. This occurred after he made seven tackles (three solo) and recovered two fumbles and earned 1st team All-Conference at Independence Community College. He is now the 30th member of FAU’s expanding 2024 class. He chose the Owls over Marshall, Louisiana Tech, UConn, and UMass among others. Boyd Jr. becomes the sixth defensive player to transfer to the Owls for the 2024 season, joining the likes of defensive backs Cameron Goggins from Georgia Military College and Wendol Philord Jr. from Keiser, linebacker Kyler Laing from Buffalo, cornerback Kahzir Brown from Maine, and defensive lineman Chisom Ifeanyi from Shippensburg.
